“Amalfi: tourist guide to the town and its environs,” this is the title of Zarino Dipino’s work, published in 1951 by Arti Grafiche De Luca, then reprinted in the years to follow, entirely in English, which aimed to provide visitors from all over the world with a reliable guide that would give directions appreciated by tourists.
Amalfi’s love of Amalfi seeps through the descriptions and pictures that decorate the colorfully illustrated guidebook. The text was so successful that it received many excellent reviews, one of them from the illustrious Benedetto Croce, who wrote, “the Guide to Amalfi is useful and gracefully written.”
